We are so delighted to let you know that Stephen McArdle, Chef/Patron of the acclaimed Barrow’s Keep in Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny, has joined the School of Food’s prestigious roster of chef tutors. He will be joining us for the Autumn 2019 sessions of Modern Skills for Modern Chefs and the Taste 4 Success Commis Chef Training Program, bringing his passion for locally-sourced ingredients and penchant for flavour to the classroom.
With a recent score of 9/10 from The Irish Times by Catherine Cleary, Barrow’s Keep is a modern Irish restaurant with a stellar wine list, thanks to Stephen’s partner, Canadian-born sommellier Morgan Vanderkamer. The food is hyper-local, with vegetables and proteins all arriving from Kilkenny and the surrounding area, and Chef Stephen’s style is both high-end and comfortable, making Barrow’s Keep the ideal restaurant to spend a cozy evening or join friends for a convivial dinner.
Chef Stephen is a Donegal native who spent many years cooking in high-end restaurants in London, Belfast and Dublin before settling down in Co. Kilkenny. He cooks his own form of soul food; his menu is comprised of dishes that are comforting, light and perfected executed. We are thrilled that he is joining the School of Food team.
